History of California Living Histories

The mission of CLH is to develop young people’s language and self-expressive skills through visual arts and literacy. We do this by implementing a curriculum that uses hands-on art and writing activities to help young people of diverse backgrounds ask important questions: who am I? Where do I come from? Where do I belong in my community? It is through these activities that children explore their identities, families and culture, and begin to value themselves as key contributors to their communities. These activities also forward CLH’s vision: young people who are skilled in visual and language arts, value cultural diversity, effectively communicate, and contribute to their communities.
